Biography
(Born in La Laguna, Tenerife on September 24, 1942 – February 6, 2025.)
Full Member (Académ ico de Número) of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Miguel Arcángel of the Canary Islands. Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Madrid.
He has participated in more than three hundred group exhibitions, the first in 1961. The most recent include “Forjar el Espacio” (“Forging Space”) at the CAAM in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the IVAM in Valencia, and the Musée des Beaux-Arts et de la Dentelle de Calais, France; “Maud and Eduardo Westerdahl: Two Perspectives on the 20th Century” at the CAM in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; and “Island Roots: Insular Visions in the Canarian Avant-Garde” at the CajaCanarias Cultural Centre in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the La Regenta Art Centre in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Ha realizado cincuenta y ocho exposiciones. Entre otras, Palacio de Cristal y Conde Duque, en Madrid, Bienal de Valencia de Alejandría (Egipto), FIAC de París, Feria de Basilea, Hospital de Santa Cruz de Barcelona, Centro Cultural Pelaires de Palma de Mallorca, Galería Benot de Cádiz, o Fundación Antonio Pérez y Galería Pilares, en Cuenca.
Among other distinctions, he has received the following awards: First Prize for Sculpture, Santo Tomás de Aquino; First Prize for Sculpture, 3rd Regional Fine Arts Exhibition; First Prize for Posters, Winter May Festivities (Carnival), Tenerife; First Prize, 6th Regional Fine Arts Exhibition of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Extraordinary Sculpture Prize of the Cabildo Insular of Tenerife; First Prize for Sculpture, Fédération du Patronat, at the International Art Salon of Toulon; Sculpture Mention, 4th Art Biennial of Valparaíso; Second Mention, Joan Miró International Drawing Prize, Barcelona; First Prize for Sculpture, 8th International Sports Biennial, Madrid.

The texts accompanying the catalogues of his most recent solo exhibitions were written by Antonio Fernández Alba, José Corredor Matheos, Alberto Pizarro, and Federico Castro Morales in “Veredas y lugares” (“Paths and Places”); and by Juan Cruz, Luis Alemany, and Serge Fauchereau in “Armas para la Paz II” (“Weapons for Peace II”).
